Disappointed with the lack of publicity for his previous EP 'Awakening', Carl immediatly began writing tracks for a new EP release. Apart from 3 re-recordings of previously released songs, Carl wrote the remaining 6 songs all in the space of a week. Despite the somewhat rushed feel to this EP, Carl considers it to be his best EP release to date. 'Big City, Small World' was released in late 2011. The EP featured a host of guest appearances from many local singers and musicians.
On reviewing the EP, The Link Magazine wrote “Comparisons have been made to the gentler side of Elvis Costello, Neil Finn and Glen Tilbrook - Carl would sit well in this company”.
